PHB 10200 Phlebotomy for the Medical Assistant

This course provides the student skills and knowledge to properly and safely collect a blood or body fluid specimen and prepare it for testing by the medical laboratory.  The student will be able to utilize a variety of blood collection methods, to include vacuum syringe, and capillary puncture and will put safety practices into place to protect themselves and the patient.  The student will also gain an understanding of performing CLIA waived laboratory tests. Prerequisite:  ENG 10305  or placement into ENG 10303 . Corequisites: ALH 25202  and ALH 25203 .
