PHB 10100 Phlebotomy Technician

This course provides the student with an overview of the healthcare field and skills and knowledge to properly and safely collect a blood or body fluid specimen and prepare the specimen for testing by the medical laboratory.  The student will be able to utilize a variety of blood collection methods, to include vacuum, syringe, and capillary puncture and will put safety practices into place to protect themselves and the patient.  The student will also gain an understanding of performing CLIA waived laboratory tests. Prerequisite:  SPE 11401  or ENG 10305  or placement into ENG 10303 .
