Introduction
This program provides students with comprehensive instruction to gain the knowledge and skills to work as a graphic designer, art director or multi-media professional. Instruction begins with core design training of the elements of design such as color, values, balance, proportion, texture, and the fundamentals of typography. Students will learn how to use design skills to create projects that will be digital imagery used in the art world. Software training is a critical component along with developing cognitive skills to assist with thinking conceptually. The overall goal is to provide students with the education that will assist them in creating a world-class portfolio.
An AAS in Graphic Design provides sufficient artistic and communication training for students who want to work as assistants in the field. Those who want to hold upper level positions will need to pursue further studies; such as a BFA in Graphic Design, after they earn this degree.
