Basic structure of wood, its anatomy, the identification of commercial wood species, species strengths and uses. Students will learn principles of wood seasoning, wood-water relationships, and species variation that affect the production of defect-free, dried lumber. Students will study industry safety practices and policy. Tours of industry will provide a broad perspective of the forest and wood products industry.
