The Emergency Medical Technician courses are designed to prepare a student to function as an EMT. These courses will provide the knowledge, skills, and externship experience necessary to provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the EMS system. These courses will provide the student with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport non-emergency patients and those with life threatening emergencies. EMT personnel function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, performing interventions with the basic equipment found on an ambulance, and under medical oversight. EMT personnel are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system. These courses will prepare students for the EMT Certification exam. Visit the NREMT website for additional information about Emergency Medical Technicians.
